A Broadway classic that has delighted audiences for generations comes to the big screen with a new, contemporary vision in Columbia Pictures‘ comedy, Annie. Director/Producer/Screenwriter Will Gluck teams with producers James Lassiter, Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith, and Shawn "JAY Z" Carter, Laurence "Jay" Brown, and Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith with a modern telling that captures the magic of the classic characters and original show that won seven Tony Awards. Celia Costas serves as Executive Producer. The screenplay is by Will Gluck and Aline Brosh McKenna, based on the musical stage play "Annie," book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and on "Little Orphan Annie," (C) and (R) Tribune Media Services, Inc. Academy Award (R) nominee Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who‘s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they‘d be back for her someday, it‘s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything‘s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) - advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) - makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he‘s her guardian angel, but Annie‘s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it‘s the other way around. (c) Sony.

Name : Inkoo Kang a.k.a TheWrap
"[A] disenchantment, even misanthropy, seeps through Will Gluck's reinterpretation of the Broadway classic."

Name : Nancy Churnin a.k.a Dallas Morning News
Most of the cast can't sing or dance, and Gluck, who co-wrote the screenplay, has no clue why this story has endured.

Name : A.O. Scott a.k.a New York Times
The cast would have been better served by a middle school production overseen by a creatively frustrated, inappropriately ambitious drama teacher than by this hacky, borderline-incompetent production .

Name : Claudia Puig a.k.a USA Today
Banal, shallow and markedly cynical.

Name : Peter Travers a.k.a Rolling Stone
It falls ignominiously on its fat one. The Sony hackers, the so-called Guardians of Peace, have leaked the new Annie online so everyone can have free access. It's their cruelest trick to date.

Name : Ben Sachs a.k.a Chicago Reader
There's a surprising amount of bite: the filmmakers openly acknowledge the similarities between the Great Depression and the present, and the populist message, however overstated, always registers as sincere.

Name : Linda Holmes a.k.a NPR
Despite any reservations about the music, it is a charming, lovely little movie.

Name : Courtney Shea a.k.a Globe and Mail
Engaging characters, infectious melodies, suspense, drama and dance extravaganzas appeal to children of all eras. If only the powers that be behind the new Annie movie had kept this basic truth in mind.

Name : James Berardinelli a.k.a ReelViews
Most remakes are unnecessary but Annie is a bigger offender than many.

Name : Maricar Estrella a.k.a Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com
Phenom Quvenzhane Wallis proves her Oscar nomination for Beasts of the Southern Wild was no fluke. As a modern-day Annie, Wallis shines with her sweet portrayal. However, her performance alone can't save the film from being a dim adaptation.

Name : Lou Lumenick a.k.a New York Post
Leapin' lizards! The evergreen Broadway musical "Annie'' strays far from its Depression-era roots with truly dismaying results in this crass, charmless, tineared and lead-footed update.

Name : Peter Rainer a.k.a Christian Science Monitor
Considering this musical has its roots in Depression-era American, Gluck's contemporary take on the material is eerily lacking in observations about the rich/poor divide in this country.

Name : Elizabeth Weitzman a.k.a New York Daily News
For all the talent involved, the overall effect is surprisingly flat. Foxx appears disconnected, Byrne is wasted and a painfully hammy Diaz seems to be in another movie altogether.

Name : Calvin Wilson a.k.a St. Louis Post-Dispatch
"Annie" is not a great movie musical - but it's a fun time at the movies.

Name : Rafer Guzman a.k.a Newsday
Wallis is adorable, but there's little magic in the new music or the barely-there choreography. A missed opportunity.

Name : Stephanie Merry a.k.a Washington Post
Ultimately, "Annie" is so fixated on being current that it will never be more than a passing fancy.

Name : David Ehrlich a.k.a Time Out New York
Annie deserves credit for illustrating that old racial prejudices don't have to be preserved by new entertainments, but this remixed rendition doesn't speak to the kids of today so much as it does to their parents' wallets.

Name : Jason Clark a.k.a Entertainment Weekly
Aside from an unintentional homage to Zoolander that is so tone-deaf it'll make you guffaw, Annie goes out of its way to make viewing it a hard-knock life.for us.

Name : Michael Phillips a.k.a Chicago Tribune
The overall vibe of this folly is curdled and utterly blase; it's a 118-minute foregone conclusion, finesse-free and perilously low on the simple performance pleasures we look for in any musical, of any period.

Name : Steven Rea a.k.a Philadelphia Inquirer
Quvenzhane Wallis, the Oscar-nominated star of the trippy bayou indie Beasts of the Southern Wild, simply has to skip into a room - and into the frame - to light things up.

Name : Christine Dolen a.k.a Miami Herald
The new Annie is jam-packed with Glee-style choreography and greed-is-good luxury. Like its predecessors, it's a fantasy. But unlike them, it's not so much heartwarming as warmed-over.

Name : Betsy Sharkey a.k.a Los Angeles Times
Hard to believe the sun will come out tomorrow for the new "Annie."

Name : Richard Brody a.k.a New Yorker
The vigorous display of good feelings and comforting resolutions has an unusually effervescent sincerity, even if the rags-to-riches wish-fulfillment leaps over all the hard knocks.

Name : Neal Justin a.k.a Minneapolis Star Tribune
There's still a good film to be made of "Annie," but it'll take Broadway veterans, not box-office stars, to pull it off.

Name : Lindsey Bahr a.k.a Associated Press
This "Annie" was supposed to be for a new generation. In the harsh light of 2014, it's never looked so dated.

Name : Wesley Morris a.k.a Grantland
Did I really just watch Foxx and Wallis do an entire musical number set inside a moving helicopter? I did, and I've never felt more embarrassed for two actors, mostly because Foxx seems embarrassed for himself.

Name : Richard Corliss a.k.a TIME Magazine
A teeter-totter between O.K. and Meh.

Name : Stephen Whitty a.k.a Newark Star-Ledger
Think you've got a hard-knock life? Try sitting through the new "Annie."

Name : Michael Ordona a.k.a San Francisco Chronicle
"Annie" is a shiny little pebble with nothing close to a surprise in it, set in a New York that would cause Martin Scorsese to burst into flame if he walked into it. And young kids just might like it.

Name : Ty Burr a.k.a Boston Globe
By the end, the movie resembles just another formulaic, family-friendly piece of product, one the kids will enjoy and you'll endure as it goes in the DVD player for the 40th time.

Name : Mary Houlihan a.k.a Chicago Sun-Times
Even Sandy the dog looks like he's had enough.

Name : Kerry Lengel a.k.a Arizona Republic
The feel-good story and sing-along production numbers are likely to please the movie's target audience of tween girls, but there's not a whole lot in "Annie" to win their parents over.

Name : Ronnie Scheib a.k.a Variety
While there are several possible good reasons to remake the Depression-set musical "Annie" in 2014, none of them seem to have informed Will Gluck's overblown yet undernourished treatment.

Name : David Edelstein a.k.a New York Magazine/Vulture
In all the ways that matter it's a missed opportunity to take a flawed musical and transform it into a powerful new myth with a particular African-American slant.

Name : Amy Nicholson a.k.a L.A. Weekly
This is an Annie for adults, only now the spin is less "Remember the social-welfare lessons of the Great Depression?" and more "Hey, rich people are nice, too."

Name : Katie Rife a.k.a AV Club
Any scene without Wallis and her gang of remarkably symmetrical, well-groomed orphans feels like a chore-"Let's just get through this," the movie seems to be saying, "Then we'll show you that cute little girl and her puppy again."

Name : David Rooney a.k.a Hollywood Reporter
The sun'll come out tomorrow, by which time this toxic mess should be forgotten.

Name : Joe Morgenstern a.k.a Wall Street Journal
Where to begin in describing the awfulness of "Annie"?

Name : Linda Barnard a.k.a Toronto Star
A movie that coasts on a disturbing greed-is-good vibe. And one that looks strangely cheap doing it.

Name : Moira MacDonald a.k.a Seattle Times
Musical purists should stay away, but little girls should have fun here, and the movie's full of goofball touches that help pass the time for the grown-ups bringing them.

Comment For Vacation Official Trailer Full Movie

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
The new Vacation is both better than I'd feared and not as hilarious as I'd hoped. It's intermittently funny and instantly forgettable.

Name : Mick LaSalle / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
"Vacation" is consistently funny from beginning to end, a piling on of dumb but inventive jokes and excruciating, awkward situations.

Name : David Ehrlich / Alias : Time Out
A rare reboot so foul and humorless it makes you question whatever attachment you might have to the original, this lazy retread of Harold Ramis's 1983 Vacation sours everything that's made that film such an undying fixture of basic cable.

Name : Bill Goodykoontz / Alias : Arizona Republic
It falls to Helms to carry the movie, and he's not quite up to it.

Name : Lindsey Bahr / Alias : Associated Press
Vacation is an over-the-top, often hilarious homage to the original from the earnest and talented writing-directing team of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.

Name : Ty Burr / Alias : Boston Globe
It holds on to the original's acrid cynicism for the first 40 minutes or so before turning predictable and bland. There are some real, nasty laughs to be had here, but they're front-loaded.

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
Vacation passes the most important test of any comedy: it's funny.

Name : Neil Genzlinger / Alias : New York Times
A very funny R-rated movie with a PG-13 heart.

Name : Scott Foundas / Alias : Variety
A trip to the corner store with this cast of characters would be an endurance test - which, with any luck, is as far as the movie's box office returns will carry it.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : Village Voice
This new Vacation is hardly an improvement on the old Vacation, and may in fact be worse. Neither of them, to borrow the immortal words of the Go-Go's, is all we ever wanted.

Name : Jesse Hassenger / Alias : AV Club
Whenever Daley and Goldstein have the opportunity to make any biting observations or mount sustained original gags, they floor it in the opposite direction.

Name : Adam Graham / Alias : Detroit News
Helms' Griswold is a dangerous, moronic maniac, and the filmmakers' disdain for him rubs off on the audience.

Name : Rebecca Keegan / Alias : Los Angeles Times
The kind of movie that exists because greenlighting it is easier than thinking.

Name : Stephanie Merry / Alias : Washington Post
No one expects originality, but the new movie may end up making history: It's already looking like the worst movie of the year.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
Lacks the wickedly funny spirit of the original "Vacation."

Name : Stephen Farber / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
The filmmakers' unsubtle style is responsible for killing many of the jokes. But they do succeed with several of the performers.

Name : Jeannette Catsoulis / Alias : New York Times
I for one will never look at a blender the same way again.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
If any of this was surprising or cleverly timed, you'd laugh and then cringe. In "Vacation" you cringe first and ask questions later.

Name : Bruce Demara / Alias : Toronto Star
It's taken more than 30 years for a new family of Griswolds to make an ill-fated cross-country trip to Walley World. Worth the wait? Not really.

Name : Calum Marsh / Alias : Globe and Mail
There's so much dead air in the film that I wondered whether punchlines had been cleaved out to secure a PG-13 rating, but no: it's a hard, inexplicable R.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
Raucous R-rated fun? You'd think, but the gags smack of desperation.

Name : Molly Eichel / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
There's nothing to say that crass can't be funny - and it sometimes is in Daley and Goldstein's iteration - but Vacation loses any of the ooey-gooey, family-friendly heart that made you really want Clark to get to Walley World to begin with.

Name : J. R. Jones / Alias : Chicago Reader
Respectably funny.

Name : Joe Neumaier / Alias : New York Daily News
Everyone deserves a vacation. And everyone deserves a better comedy than "Vacation."

Name : Wesley Morris / Alias : Grantland
You can't do much worse at the movies than Vacation.

Name : Lou Lumenick / Alias : New York Post
That sound you hear is John Hughes and Harold Ramis, the writer and director of the original, rolling over in their graves. And not from laughter, which is in very short supply here.

Name : Scott Tobias / Alias : NPR
It's as if Daley and Goldstein started with a list of disgusting topics - outre sex acts, human waste, pubic hair, projectile vomiting, cow cannibalism, et al. - and constructed a narrative around them.

Name : Karina Longworth / Alias : Village Voice
The psychedelic nightmare sequence alone is a solid testament to Clark's singular aesthetic.

Name : Alonso Duralde / Alias : TheWrap
All too true to the experience of taking a long family trip: there are a few special moments you'll remember and talk about later, but for the most part, it's a featureless, repetitive voyage that can't be over soon enough.

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
Vacation is lazy, idiotic, and gross - and I laughed my ass off at it.
